Our Approach
Why Trajan Physio?
I created Trajan Physio to be a clinic where I can do my best work and where you can get your best results.
All visits are goal oriented, and one-on-one for 40 or 60 minutes.
No overlap, no interruptions, no aids or assistants.
Ample time and attention at each visit to provide thorough re-evaluation and treatment, address your questions, and ensure meaningful progress toward your recovery.
Preparing for a race, dealing with a new injury, or setting new sporting goals while managing an old one? Your current situation matters, and each visit is tailored to reflect your unique needs and goals at that moment.
Treatment Techniques
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is a hands-on technique in physiotherapy aimed at diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It includes joint mobilization, manipulation, and soft tissue techniques to improve movement and reduce pain. By applying targeted pressure, manual therapy restores mobility, relieves muscle tension, and promotes healing.
Running Training Plans
Developing a running training plan is a personalized approach that considers the runner's goals, fitness level, and any injuries. Physiotherapists assess biomechanics and endurance to create a balanced program that includes gradual mileage progression, speed work, and recovery strategies. The plan also integrates cross-training, strength, and flexibility exercises to boost performance and minimize injury risk, helping runners achieve their objectives while promoting long-term health and resilience.
Gait Analysis
Gait analysis is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s walking pattern, focusing on the biomechanics and coordination of movement. Utilizing advanced techniques such as video capture and sensor technology, physiotherapists evaluate factors like stride length, foot placement, and overall stability to identify abnormalities or imbalances. This detailed analysis helps in diagnosing conditions and developing tailored rehabilitation programs.
Ergonomic Assessment
An ergonomic assessment evaluates an individual's workspace and posture to identify injury risks and enhance comfort, efficiency, and sitting tolerance. Physiotherapists analyze workstation setups, seating, and body mechanics to recommend adjustments that promote optimal alignment and reduce strain, thereby reducing the need for extensive treatment.
NMES
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) is a therapeutic technique used in physiotherapy to stimulate muscle contraction through electrical impulses. It helps improve muscle strength, reduce atrophy, and enhance rehabilitation outcomes for patients recovering from injuries or surgeries.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a holistic therapy from traditional Chinese medicine that uses thin needles inserted at specific points to stimulate energy flow and healing. In physiotherapy, acupuncture helps to alleviates pain, reduce inflammation, reduce stress, and support recovery from musculoskeletal conditions.
Taping
Taping is a technique used in physiotherapy to support and stabilize muscles and joints while promoting optimal alignment. Kinesiology tape is often applied to enhance proprioception, reduce pain, and facilitate movement without restricting the body's natural range of motion. More ridgid tapes can be used for areas requiring greater support or to help correct posture by providing a reminder to maintain optimal alignment during activities.
Proprioceptive Training
Proprioceptive training is a specialized physiotherapy technique aimed at enhancing the body's awareness of its position and movement in space. This training focuses on improving balance, coordination, and stability through targeted exercises that engage sensory receptors in muscles and joints.
Soft Tissue Therapy
Soft tissue therapy is a hands-on treatment technique utilized by physiotherapists to alleviate pain and tension in muscles, fascia, and other soft tissues. Using various methods such as massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy, this approach promotes relaxation, improves circulation, and enhances mobility.
Running Analysis
Running analysis is a specialized assessment performed by physiotherapists to evaluate a runner's biomechanics, gait, and overall movement patterns. With the help of video footage, therapists analyze factors such as stride length, foot strike, cadence, and posture to identify inefficiencies or potential factors related to injuries. This comprehensive analysis helps in tailoring personalized training programs and corrective strategies, optimizing performance, and preventing injuries.
Exercise Prescription
Therapeutic exercise prescription is a personalized approach by physiotherapists to develop tailored exercise programs that meet your specific needs and goals. Based on your assessment, we create a safe combination of exercises—such as strengthening, balance, and mobility activities—that are regularly monitored and adjusted to optimize recovery and enhance physical function.
IMS
Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a physiotherapy technique designed to treat pain or tension by targeting tight muscles and underlying nerve dysfunction. It involves the insertion of thin needles into specific trigger points to release tension, improve blood flow, and alleviate discomfort. This method helps restore proper muscle function and promotes healing.
Education
Education is a crucial aspect of physiotherapy that empowers patients with knowledge about their condition and self-management strategies. Physiotherapists educate about anatomy and physiology related to your injury, and about movement mechanics, posture importance, and injury prevention. This collaborative approach enhances understanding of the healing process, encourages active participation in recovery, and ultimately improves outcomes and patient confidence in managing their health.
Joint Mobilizations
Joint mobilizations are manual therapy techniques used by physiotherapists to enhance the mobility and function of joints by applying controlled movements. This treatment approach helps alleviate pain, improve range of motion, and support recovery from injuries by restoring normal joint mechanics.
TENS
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a therapeutic technique used in physiotherapy to help manage pain. This non-invasive treatment involves the application of mild electrical impulses through the skin using electrodes placed on specific areas of the body.
Nervous System Desensitization
Nervous system desensitization is a therapeutic approach in physiotherapy aimed at reducing pain sensitivity associated with conditions like chronic pain and neuropathic issues. Through graded exposure to movement and sensory stimuli, physiotherapists create tailored programs that gradually increase pain tolerance. This process helps recalibrate the nervous system, leading to improved function, reduced pain, and enhanced quality of life for patients.
Breathing Exercises
Breathing exercises in physiotherapy can enhancing respiratory function during rest or sport, promote relaxation, improve mobility, and provide effective stress management, downregulating the sympathetic nervous system.
Core Stability
Core stability training focuses on strengthening and coordinating the muscles around the trunk and pelvis. Core stability is supports proper posture, improves functional movement, and reduces injury risk during physical activities.
